Anita Khanna
Anita Khanna is vice president of government relations and public policy at United Way Centraide Canada. She is proud to represent Canada’s United Ways and Centraides to the federal government and to develop policy and program proposals to further the movement’s goals to build stronger communities where everyone can reach their full potential.
Throughout her career, Anita has worked to make civic participation, services, and benefits more accessible to marginalized community members. For more than 15 years, she has co-led successful campaigns to improve municipal, provincial, and federal social policy to reduce poverty, strengthen the non-profit and charitable sector, and build more equitable communities. Anita is committed to building strong relationships and to working in diverse coalitions to effect change. She was previously national coordinator of Campaign 2000: End Child and Family Poverty in Canada and director of social action and community building at Family Service Toronto. She has also served as executive director of the Council of Agencies Serving South Asians (and the city-wide organizer at Social Planning Toronto. She currently volunteers on the boards of the Childcare Resource and Research Unit, the Ontario Nonprofit Network, and Child Care Now. Anita holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto and lives in Ottawa.
